Professor Nelson is the Department of Anthropology's Faculty Advisor. You should contact her if you are an undergraduate student interested in declaring a major in Anthropology or are currently pursuing any of Anthropology's degree plans or certificates. In addition to helping you file a degree plan (D.A.R.F.) with the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, she can help advise you on course selections, anthropology tracks, and post-graduate advice. In addition, contact Professor Nelson if you are interested in field-school, study-abroad, internship, or substitution credit toward your Anthropology Major requirements.
You should make it a point to touch base with Professor Nelson at least once a semester to discuss your academic progress. In addition to advising you on the best path to complete your Anthropology degree plan, Professor Nelson serves as your point of reference for any issues or interests that might arise within the scope of Anthropology.
CLASS Advisors
Professor Nelson works closely with a dedicated team of CLASS (College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences) advisors who provide support for our students' comprehensive academic progress, advising on both Anthropology degree and CORE requirements. You should seek out a CLASS advisor if you are: considering declaring a double-major or minor, filing a graduation application, needing course advice, requesting transfer credit, or seeking information regarding campus resources.

Ambassadors
Every year, two students are nominated to serve as our ambassadors to the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS). The role of the Ambassadors is to represent the Department of Anthropology to the greater college, university, and community. They embody who we are and our place in society as a community of anthropologists at UNT!

UNDERGRADUATE COMMUNITY COORDINATOR (UCC)
The Undergraduate Community Coordinator (UCC) is an upper-class anthropology major whose position it is to bridge our growing undergraduate initiatives/organizations. This is a vital role for holding fast the strong ties that bind our anthropology community together. Ciara Hendricks is the Department of Anthropology's Student Faculty Liaison for the 2024-2025 school year. She is a senior earning a B.A. in Anthropology with certificates in Applied Anthropology and Social Justice Studies, as well as receiving a minor in Art History. The Student/Faculty Liaison facilitates dialogue between students and staff in the Anthropology department. Ciara is available to discuss any suggestions or concerns for the department and is available to address any questions and provide support.
