Dr. Joshua Aaron RobersonDr.Joshua Aaron Roberson (1997): Joshua Aaron Roberson received his Ph.D. in Egyptology, specializing in Egyptian language, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. He serves currently as tenured Associate Professor of Art History and Egyptian Language at the University of Memphis and as Assistant Director of the Institute of Egyptian Art & Archaeology. He has worked extensively at archaeological sites throughout Egypt, including Saqqara and Abydos, with the University of Pennsylvania; Karnak temple, with the French Nation Center for Scientific Research; Elephantine island, with the German Archaeological Institute; as well as the Valley of the Kings and the private necropolis of El-Asasif, while on fellowship with the American Research Center in Egypt. He has conducted museum research at the University of Pennsylvania, the Cairo Museum, and the British Museum. Dr. Roberson is an internationally recognized expert in multiple disciplines within Egyptology, with an extensive publication history on ancient Egyptian religion and cosmology, cryptography, language, and literature, including more than fifty scholarly articles and other short works, as well as six books, including theThe Ancient Egyptian Books of the Earth(2012);The Awakening of Osiris and the Transit of the Solar Barques(2013);Ramesside Inscriptions: Historical and Biographical, vol. IX (2018);ALexicon of Ancient Egyptian Cryptography of the New Kingdom(2020); Ancient Egypt, New Technology, co-edited with Rita Lucarelli from UC Berkeley and Steve Vinson from Indiana University (2023); and most recently, a newTeaching Grammar of Middle Egyptian(2025). Shari Esquenazi-Karonika, PhD, MPH, MSShari Esquenazi-Karonika, PhD, MPH, MS: Dr. Esquenazi-Karonika currently leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of various health promotion programs at NYU Langone Health in New York City. Her work aims to reduce chronic illnesses and improve overall well-being among patients, caregivers, and healthcare workers. Following her undergraduate studies, she earned a MS in Biomedical Ethics, an MPH, and a PhD in Behavioral Science & Health Promotion. She instructs courses at NYU, Columbia University, and New York Institute of Technology. She also serves as a board member for a non-profit named Floranthropy, which reduces floral waste from events by delivering the flowers to retirement communities, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and more. Jordan MitchellJordan Mitchell (2022): Currently since I graduated I’ve been working for the Peace Corps organization and am based in North Macedonia, I do lots of work out here including teaching and promoting education, as well as collaboration events with Red Cross and the World Youth Alliance (WYA) working towards a broader youth involvement.


Kendra Hayes (previously Marsh, & Harrell)Kendra Hayes (previously Marsh, & Harrell) (2010): Kendra graduatedsumma cum laudefrom UNT's Anthropology program in 2010, and went on to find a home in library work. In 2018 she completed her MLS at TWU while working at the Texas A&M University-Texarkana library, and in 2021 she accepted a position as the director of the Atlanta, Texas Public Library. Kendra considers her background in anthropology to be invaluable, helping her navigate her career and life every day. The degree provided a solid foundation for her library studies. She currently lives in Atlanta, TX with her husband and son, and can often be found at the library cleaning fish tanks, writing the newsletter, attending board meetings, and teaching classes. Karla Treviño
Karla Treviño (2013): Works as a Senior Manager with the City and County of Denver under the Denver Labor division with the Auditor’s office. We investigate wage theft and enforce labor laws for all Denver workers. We focus on worker empowerment, community outreach , education and use data-driven decision making to better reach marginalized workers. In 2024 our office retrieved over 2 million dollars in restitution and helped over 4,500 employees. No case is too small, and we offer this as a free service to the worker. About us:

Ellen Christensen (2024): (BA in Anth with certificates in Social Justice Studies and Applied Anthropology) Ellen is the Administrative Assistant with the American Anthropological Association where she assists with work in advocacy and education. You can see their work webpage here.

Lucille GradillasLucille Gradillas (2023): After graduating in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, Lucille is engaging in both nonprofit and government sectors. During their AmeriCorps VISTA career, Lucille successfully created a dynamic teen volunteer program for the S'edav Va'aki Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. As the Teen Volunteer Program Director, they increased Title 1 participation in cultural institutions by building the Cholla Buds: Pen Pal Program. Lucille has been involved with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and HandsOn Greater Phoenix, aiding in volunteer coordination and management. They are looking forward to starting their new career with the State of Arizona's Department of Child Safety, where they hope to utilize their Anthropology degree to make children from all cultures feel safe and loved. Sarah RichardsonSarah Richardson (2020): Sarah currently works in development and fundraising at Mid-America Arts Alliance, supporting regional efforts to make the arts more accessible across the Heartland. She coordinates donor engagement, grant writing, and fundraising campaigns that help sustain artists and cultural organizations. With a background in anthropology and nonprofit leadership, she is especially interested in community-rooted giving strategies and the role of the arts in social and cultural connection.
