Call me Dr. Maggie. Maggie is my nickname and I like for you to use that name because it was given to me by students. And, of course, the Dr. comes from me having a PhD in Philosophy and Religion from the University of North Texas-Denton.

I began my vocation through a nine year apprenticeship (1994-2003) with my mentor, Richard M. Owsley (d. 2003), who was himself a student of Karl Jaspers (d. 1969), the German existential philosopher. I am suspicious of all institutional structures. Because of this, I am highly critical of the neo-liberal turn in University instruction. Why? Because it contributes to the feeling of alienation most people experience when college should be helping us alleviating the sense of estrangement.
I can be found around Denton where I live as well as other DFW spots troubling students and professors, friends and strangers about this and that. I consider myself a fringe scholar wandering the borderlands between the Academy and the World. I call my way of thinkering the Mountain Dog School.
I love the hell out of Socrates and Yoda while tending to act like William S. Burroughs and Jaba the Hut. My current projects include studies of the Dào Dé Jing, the intersection of Karl Jaspers' Existential philosophy with queer theory, and the launch with my colleagues of Wyrd Atractions: A Journal of Radical Polyamory.
