American Anthropological Association (AAA)

The main professional organization for anthropologists in the United States. The AAA is an umbrella organization composed of many "sections," each focusing on a particular topic.

Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA)

One of the two professional organizations for applied anthropologists in the US

National Association for the Practice of Anthropology (NAPA)

The other professional organization for applied anthropologists in the United States. NAPA is a section of the AAA.

Society for Linguistic Anthropology (SLA)

The association for linguistic anthropologists. This group is a section of the AAA.

Washington Association of Anthropologists (WAPA)

An association for applied anthropologists who work in the Washington area. Many of them hold government-related positions. This is the largest regional group of applied anthropologists, with several hundred members. The association sponsors many activities throughout the year.

Society for Medical Anthropology (SMA)
