Course Delivery Terms

COURSE DELIVERY OPTIONS

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the following terms present the methods of course delivery now offered.

Online Course

A course section intentionally designed for the Online environment, in which all (100%) of the instruction, learning activities, assessments/exams, grades, and course meetings are conducted entirely online. An Online Course has no on-site meetings and the learner is not required to be physically present at any pre-set physical location (on-site) for the duration of the course.

Partially Online Course

A course section where some of the course meetings are online and some are on-site. The online portions of the course often take the place of the traditional "lectures," and the remaining on-site class time is most often used for active learning experiences, including discussions, problem solving, groupwork and exams. Partially online courses can be hybrid, blended or flipped.

Remote Delivery Course

An on-site course section that is temporarily shifted to online; returning to on-site delivery in successive semesters. Remote courses function like Online Courses, in which all (100%) of the instruction, content, learning activities, assessments/exams, grades and course meetings are conducted entirely online.

Partial Remote Delivery

An on-site course section where some of the course meetings are online and some are on-site. Partial Remote delivery courses function like Partially Online Courses in which the online portions of the course often take the place of the traditional "lectures," and the remaining on-site class time is most often used for active learning experiences, including discussions, problem solving, groupwork and exams.

On-Site Course

A course section in which the course instruction is delivered entirely on-site. On-Site courses can include some online resources, however all instruction, learning activities, assessments/exams, etc.are provided on-site at a pre-set location on pre-set days and times.

COURSE DELIVERY FORMATS

Online, Partially Online, Remote & Partially Remote Courses can and do use varying amounts of both synchronous (live) and asynchronous (on-demand) formats.

Synchronous
